Government confirms HIPs to be extended
The government has confirmed rumours in the housing market that Home Information Packs will be required for three bedroom homes from 10th September.
The Home Information Packs contain title deeds, local searches and an energy performance certificate. They are currently required for all homes with four or more bedrooms.
Communities Minister Baroness Andrews said: "We are now ready to start rolling out Home Information Packs and energy performance certificates to the next part of the housing market as promised, and improve the home buying and selling process which currently is now working for consumers or the environment."
Many housing experts believe Home Information Packs will be rolled out to cover all homes by November. According to Baroness Andrews, further announcements will be made "in due course".
