House price growth continues in November

The strong rise in house prices continued in November, which saw the biggest increase in annual rate of growth for almost two years.

Prices rose by 1.4% in November, pushing the average house price in Britain to over £172,000.

Fionnuala Earley, an economist for Nationwide, said: “Current housing market indicators are firm and do nothing to dent the prospects of further rises in house prices.”

House prices have gone up by 9.6% in 2006, with some economists predicting a rise of 6 to 8% in 2007.
