Guidelines and Principles of the Professional Property Circle
The objectives of the Professional Property Circle (PPC) are to act as a forum for exchanging valuable property information, assisting members with technical advice for the benefit of clients and referring business to each other.
In order for these objectives to be achieved there should be a high degree of trust and understanding between the members. The monthly meetings will provide an opportunity for exchanging information and knowledge about each others business activities.
Although the above are the main objectives, further opportunities and benefits for members will be considered from time to time including marketing initiatives, community activities etc.
Members will provide, by rotation, their meeting room as the venue for monthly meetings.
Meetings will be chaired by rotation.
Meetings will generally be between 8 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of each month. At the end of each meeting the next meeting date will be decided..
Although meetings will be informal the format of each meeting will generally include:
- A 2 to 3 minute update by each member to generally include good and bad things that have happened during the course of the month, new opportunities in the property market and an update on the members’ activities.
- A 5 to 10 minute slot by one of the members on their activities and items of potential interest to the other members.
- If deemed appropriate by the members an occasional outside speaker on property matters of interest to all members.
- Requests for specific referrals by each member at the end of the meeting.
The member hosting the meeting on a rotating basis will pay the cost of breakfast for each meeting.
Generally but not necessarily, there will only be one member for each profession or category of business and wherever possible there should be no competition in areas where activities overlap.
Ideally the same person from each firm should attend in order to ensure continuity. If that person is unable to attend a meeting he should send a substitute, either from his own firm or any other nominated person provided it does not conflict with the activity undertaken by another member.
If more than 2 meetings are missed in every 6 months then the other members will decide whether to open that category to another firm and ask the absentee firm to leave the group.
The referral requests at the end of each meeting should be as specific as possible in order to maximise their success.
Referrals will normally be on the understanding that there will be reciprocity within the group and if introduction or commission fees are payable then this should be agreed beforehand between the respective members.
Communication between the members outside of the meetings will generally be by email and telephone.
Background
The Professional Property Circle was founded in early 2005, it was originally called the Pinner Property Circle and its stated aims and objectives were to act as a forum for exchanging valuable property information, assisting members with technical advice for the benefit of clients and referring business to each other.
Monthly meetings were held for the mutual exchange of information, knowledge, best practice and trends, based on trust and understanding between members.
In November 2005 the group changed its name to the Professional Property Circle and hosted its first event.
